Minnesota 1000
June 19 - 21, 2009
TeamStrange is proud
beyond words to present the 15th edition of the Minnesota 1000.
Having said that, here are some words...
Who's in?
2009 Rider List
15 Years - Can that be right?
Yep, this year marks the 15th annual running of one of the country's premier
24 hour motorcycle road rallies. TeamStrange invites you to join in and
help us celebrate!
We're sure we'll see the return of many veterans who have entered the event
in previous years. But each year also brings a significant number of new
riders. Last year, 25% of the riders were MN1K first-timers. And
some of them went on to win or place very high in their class. So we hope
you will join us this year, whether you are a returning rider or new to the
event.
Location, Location, Location
Leo's South, in Lakeville, MN, has
graciously invited us back for the fourth year in a row. They will again
be the host location for the traditional Friday night "Liar's Banquet", and for
both the start and end of the rally. What can we say? Leo's has the
location, they have plenty of room for lots of motorcycles, and most importantly
they have the staff that goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome year
after year.
Leo's South is located at 16375 Kenrick Ave in Lakeville, MN. You can find Leo's on
Google Maps,
or with Garmin MapSource (.gdb file), or
with Microsoft Streets & Trips (.est file).
Nuts and Bolts
Some factoids about this year's event:
 | Benevolent Rally Master Bart Bakker is directing the action again this
year.
|
 | Number of entries limited to approximately 100 riders
|
 | Your entry includes two meals, a rally flag, stickers, and a T-shirt.
|
 | There will again be photo bonuses this year. As always, Polaroid
photos will be accepted. However, for the first time ever, the
Minnesota 1000 will be accepting digital photos as well. If you intend
to submit digital photos, BE SURE to read and understand the TeamStrange
digital photo
rules. Most photo bonuses this year will be "daylight hours only",
which should eliminate much of the perceived digital camera advantage.
Note: you may submit either digital photos OR Polaroid photos -- you may not
mix formats.
|
 | Whether you are shooting digital photos, Polaroid photos, or no photos
at all, you are responsible for
being familiar with the
TeamStrange Uniform Rules. Read them now and avoid that awkward
moment later when you realize close doesn't count.
|
 | There will be bonuses in Canada. Bart isn't saying yet if he has
arranged for tornadoes to chase you around Lake of the Woods this year.
But he does emphasize that riders who are unwilling or unable (*cough*) to
enter Canada will still be able to compete for top finishing spots.
Riders who choose to enter Canada should do their homework now to be sure
they have the appropriate documentation to cross the border (both ways!). |
