2011 Minnesota 1000
July 29 - 31, 2011
The 17th annual Minnesota 1000 has moved to the end of July (29-31) this year and takes with it all of the great traditions riders have come to expect. Once again, our gracious friends at Leo’s South (find it) will be hosting the event, from the “you can’t miss this!” Friday night Liar’s Banquet and Saturday morning start to the Sunday morning finish. In addition, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Mike Kneebone and the Iron Butt Association, the top two overall finishers of the 2011 Minnesota 1000 will earn a “pass the draw” spot in the 2013 Iron Butt Rally!
As with the now legendary Minnesota 2010, all riders will receive in their rally pack a thumb drive with GPS coordinates for all bonus locations, along with the traditional route sheet (bonus list to some of you). For those who prefer “old school” rallying or avoid these newfangled ways, there will be enough information given on the route sheet to find all locations and enjoy the event without using a GPS or mapping software. All riders and passengers will receive a rally flag with their rider number printed on it, along with a rally shirt and decals, a BBQ meal at the Friday night banquet, breakfast at the finish...what’s not to like?
Will I need a passport? Only if you wish to put all possible bonus locations in play. There will be a few locations in Canada, but riders who do not wish to or cannot cross that border needn’t worry: It will be possible to place or even win without setting foot in Canada. Can I use the old Polaroid film that’s sitting in my freezer? Sure, we’ll still accept those, and good luck with that!
Is it July yet?
