2012 Team Lyle 8-Hour Rally
May 5, 2012
The Team Lyle Rally (Minnesota Edition) is back!
What better way is there to start the 2012 rally
season than with an eight hour event on Saturday, May 5th which provides
not only an opportunity to see friends old and new, but also to raise
money for an estimable charity,
Eddie’s Road.
Once again,
Bob’s Java Hut (find it)
will be our host for the start and finish of the rally. Riders will
receive a quality Team Lyle Rally shirt and rally decals, with all
remaining funds donated to charity. Last year the inaugural Team Lyle
rally raised over $1500 for Eddie’s Road, a huge success we hope to
surpass this year.
Like last year, we’re keeping the requirements
fairly simple: No camera or laptop computer required. All bonuses will
require you to either answer a question or, in a few cases, pick up a
receipt. All bonus locations on the route sheet will have directions
enough to find them without aid of a GPS (although GPS usage is allowed
and could be helpful). We’ll leave that fancy waypoints stuff for the
Minnesota 1000. This isn’t an “unplugged” rally, but more “old school.”
Rally staff will be on hand and ready to check-in
riders at Bob’s starting at 7:00 a.m. There will be a very brief rider’s
meeting at 8:00 a.m. and the route sheet will be handed out promptly
thereafter, allowing riders about an hour to ponder the puzzle before
the clock starts. Riders will be free to depart at 9:00 a.m. and
expected back at 5 p.m, with a ten minute penalty window at the finish.
There will be no fuel log to maintain and with no photo bonuses to pick
through, scoring should go quickly. The rally will be an excellent
“first rally” for those new to our sport, and plenty challenging to even
the most experienced rally rider - as those who rode last year could
attest
Is it May yet?
