Come with TeamStrange as we go back to the birthplace of endurance riding...

Two wheels to Niobrara!!!

June 14 - 16, 2002

In the late 1950s, Danny Liska set out from Niobrara, Nebraska on the adventure of a lifetime when he rode his trusty BMW from the Arctic Circle to Tierra Del Fuego.   This journey, chronicled in the book "Two Wheels to Adventure," has inspired countless long distance motorcycle riders to set out for their own adventures on (and off) the road.  Danny didn't stop there.  In the 1960s, he got back on the Beemer and rode from the North Cape of Norway to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

TeamStrange's connection with Niobrara began one rainy day back in the early 1990s, when Eddie stopped at the famed Two Rivers Saloon for some tasty Walt's Pizza.  In the ensuing years,  nearly every TeamStrange event has included a stop in Niobrara.  This year, as a special tribute to the spirit of adventure that inspired Danny and still motivates the long distance riders who follow in his footsteps, we are pleased to bring you this very special event.

Just look what we have planned for you....

bulletThe Minnesota 1000!  That's right, we've picked up the nation's premier
24 hour endurance rally and plopped it down right in the very birthplace of LD Riding!
bulletOther fun rides for your amusement and edification!
bulletA special BBQ dinner with Arlene Liska, who accompanied her husband Danny on his travels...We're betting Arlene has some stories that didn't make the book...
bulletA meal at the famous Two Rivers Saloon!
bulletThe usual TeamStrange trinkets, fun and frivolity.

But how can a 24 hour rally be held over 3 days?   Everything's possible in Niobrara! We'll be in Niobrara on Thursday, June 13, and the “Minnesota 1000” (Min-Nebraska 1000?) will start anytime after 5 am on Friday June 14th. All that matters is that you’ll only have XX amount of hours to ride the event, and you’ll have to be done by the finishing time Sunday morning. Want to run your 1000 from Friday night to Saturday night? Friday morning to Saturday morning?  That’s up to you--we’ll have staff on hand to sign the riders in and out around the clock.  Don't feel like riding a 24 hour rally?  Not a problem!  Feel free to hang with your fellow riders at Event HQ, take advantage of our other riding options, or just relax with your friends and family in friendly Niobrara.
