Some Decatur info you need to know:

Decatur is a large city (over 80,000 people) with most everything a rider could need.  Hotels, restaurants and stores are numerous. If you can think of it, it’s probably available in Decatur.  Have a look at the City of Decatur website.  Rallying like a rock star?  Fly in!  See the Decatur Airport (DEC) website for more info. Flights to St. Louis Lambert Airport—connections to everywhere from there.

The Decatur Conference Center and Hotel is the nicest hotel to ever dare host a long-distance rally. From the on-site Sports Bar and glass-ceiling Grand Ballroom to the fishing pond, to the outside pavilion set aside just for TeamStrange to the huge security-patrolled “motorcycle only” courtyard for TeamStrange riders, this is shaping up to be a location that won’t be forgotten.

The weekend of the start of the Paris-Decatur Rally also has the city of Decatur hosting Decatur Celebration: Dancin’ in the Streets--one of the largest Open Street Fairs in the nation. Join 200,000 other people at this annual rockin’ event. Last year saw such acts as Dennis DeYoung, War, The Tubes, Sheena Easton and many others playing for free in the closed off 22 block area of downtown Decatur.

BL IIII: “The PARIS-DECATUR Rally” Headquarters Hotel is just a couple of miles away from the downtown area. We will be running a shuttle service for riders heading downtown for the festivities.

…..hey Peter—there’s 17 mistakes here. Can you find all of them?...

Top 10 questions asked about BL IIII: “The PARIS-DECATUR Rally”:

10. Are you guys really giving away a brand new motorcycle? Yes.

9. Will that Waffle person be back again? We’re not sure if you mean Bob Johnston, Jim Winterer, Lurleen, or Curt Gran, but the answers are maybe, yes, probably and definitely—even if he’s not there.

8. Is this event really “within 250 miles of Speed, MO” as you guys have been telling us? Sure thing…it’s 249.1 miles according to Streets n’ Trips.

7. Will BL IIII: “The PARIS-DECATUR Rally” end in time for me to get to the IBA National Convention in Tulsa? Absolutely—actually, the ’08 IBA Convention in Tulsa is closer to the BL IIII ending point than BL IIII was to the ’06 Denver IBA Convention.

6. Is TeamStrange really accepting digital photos?  We always thought you guys were pretty curmudgeonly.

After several fortnights of counting the beads on our abacus, it became apparent that allowing digital photos was the right thing to do. There’s behind the scenes speculation that somewhere, some rider will have a digital “adventure” that will make great story fodder.

5. Are there special rules for the digital camera guys? Yes. And they’ll be out soon.

4. You’re really truly giving away a new bike? And I get to pick which one I want?

Yes…….and yes, but only if you win.

3. If it’s the Paris-Decatur Rally and you’re starting it in Decatur, does that mean it’ll end in Paris? And if so, which one?

Hey!...we’re not telling everything yet. ….and you know we’re dying to make a Paris Hilton joke out of that question….

2. Will routing be easy on BL IIII: “The PARIS-DECATUR Rally”? I’ve heard stories about how difficult it is on some events. No worries….our borderline-literate Rally Masters present bonus options that practically route themselves….

1. Are TeamStrange events as unprofessional as they seem? Hey!! Can you name any other LD event that has a judge as a Rally master?
