- MN2K Ramblings
-
- -
Liars Banquet (30 Jun 2000):
-
- Good company, good food and Bikes set up neat
- Got lectures of reading comprehension and why
not to cheat.
-
- Bonus sheets were handed out after our feast
- “A” was Minnesota, “C” North and West,
“B” South and to the East.
-
- Number 350 and I (304) set our sites to the
West
- We’ll head home, plan routes, sleep and meet
at BOB’s with the rest.
-
- -
BOB’s Java Hut (01 Jul 2000):
-
- BOB’s coffee is great but I learned from
last year
- Keep it down to two cups, so I don’t need a
pit stop so near.
-
- Bonus Bonus’ and Rally flags were handed out
- “Oh Shit” could be heard as riders had to
re-route.
-
- 350 and 304 left and were still headed West
- We’d see in two days how we compared to the
best.
-
- -
The Rally (01–03 Jul 2000):
-
- First stop was Bongards, MN all hyper (and
how)
- Our cameras were working, we knew a bovine was
a COW
-
- Picture of Excelsior-Henderson sign in Belle
Plaine
- Nice looking bikes and building any more
comments I shall refrain.
-
- Mankato, Sleepy Eye, Trimont receipts, we’d
been there to tell
- Then a quick little dash for a picture bonus
in Dunnell.
- “A few miles South” of Dunnell is a site
of a crater
- That’s 6 miles into Iowa, as Will the Outlaw
found later.
-
- Luverne, MN to the “Corn Palace” in
Mitchell South Dakota
- What’s the matter Eddie, couldn’t you find
a Pagoda?
-
- Through Chamberlain, SD we kept following the
trail
- A 30 minute stop caused by high winds, rain
and some hail.
-
- Three trips into Interior looking for a 20
foot Prairie Dog
- By the time we were done we needed to update
the fuel log.
- Riding in the “Badlands” is an awesome
sight
- But you should try it lit up with PIAA’s at
midnight.
-
- At a station with credit card pumps, a three
hour bonus we took
- Trading off concrete and wood bench, got a
neck with a crook.
-
- Onward we rode, zooming by Pine Ridge, I
honked, then I asked
- Is that a bonus location that we just zipped
past?
- So back we went to find this road to “Slim
Butte”
- Found cattle, shit gravel and loss fillings to
boot.
- With many others I concur, at this point, to
which
- As “Bubba” would put it, “Eddie you
Son-a-Bitch”.
-
- Mt. Rushmore, Belle Fourche, Mud Butte were
some more
- Considering what we’d blown, we were raising
our score.
-
- Sitting Bull we found up high on a ridge
- Then took our four hour layover in Mobridge.
-
- Aberdeen to Milbank keeping a clean fuel log
- When all of a sudden we’re in a dense FOG.
- We slowed down a bit, kept our eyes on the
line
- For we were headed for Darwin and that large
“Ball of Twine”.
-
- Now at Moon Motors after coming from afar
- The only heavy traffic was on the way to
TrackStar.
-
- -
Post Rally (03 Jul 2000);
-
- Self scoring yourself while you’re still
half asleep
- Makes room for mistakes on simple points you
should keep.
-
- Awards given out, they did a good job
- Looking around, what a mix of a mob.
-
- As the Rally ended people dispersing far and
near
- After meeting, (as Bubba would put it) see
Y’all next year.
-
- Micheal Clair (Rider #304)
-
- PS: Thank you to my riding partner Scott Smith for putting up with my many
gas stops.
- (Poor
mileage with wind, need to change the setup some how.)
-
- A
big thanks to all of TeamStrange for another very successful Rally. A
special thanks
- to
Adam for keeping us clean (rules wise). Eddie, what can I say, we LOVE you (AssHole).
-
-
See you next year, if I haven’t already been kicked out!
-
- PPS: I wish to give credit where credit is due. We met some nice and very
helpful Hiway Patrol
-
Officers in Nebraska and South Dakota and I just wanted to say: Thank
you.
