2021 Minnesota 1000
Okay, let's try this again.
The 2021 Minnesota 1000 will be a 24 hour scavenger hunt style rally held June 11 -13, 2021 ... we hope. As I type this the very first COVID-19 vaccines are just now being administered. So weíll have to see exactly where we stand as far as the pandemic sometime in May. Iím fairly confident that there will be a Minnesota 1000 in 2021; if not in June, then sometime later in the year. But Iím kind of an optimist.
Once again, Motoprimo in Lakeville, MN, will be rally headquarters for the start and finish of the rally.
You are advised to read and be familiar with the TeamStrange Uniform Rules, and note that one of the rules we will be paying attention to is in Section I, item 5: A DOT or ECE 22.05 compliant helmet must be worn any time the rider or passenger is on a motorcycle at the start, finish, checkpoint, or during the rally. (Yup, even while riding in the parking lot) Also note that some of the more stringent rules apply only to Butt Lite.
Digital cameras will be needed for this rally and, yes, we will keep your memory card after scoring.
There will be three classes this year:
This years MN1K will be Canada-free, I canít get there with the closed border. As a matter of fact, I donít even know for sure just where the 2021 MN1K will send you. COVID has put a major crimp in my bonus hunting. Iíve got lots and lots of great ideas, I just havenít be able to check them all out yet.
Check-in will start at 6:00 PM at Motoprimo on Friday, June 11 for the Liars Banquet. At check- in you'll sign a waiver, and receive your your rally swag.
Dinner (BBQ of course!) will be served starting at 6:30 PM. Then at 7:30 weíll have a rider's meeting to go over some of the basic rules and hand out rally packets. Your rally packet will include printed route sheets, your rally flag and a flash drive containing GPS coordinates in .gdb, .gpx and .txt formats.
Rally staff will be available at Motoprimo starting at 6:30 AM on Saturday for check-in, recording odometers and answering any additional questions. We'll have a continental breakfast for you and a few snacks for the road. You will be free to leave at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning. All riders must return by 7:59:59 AM on Sunday morning. NO grace period, period. If you're back at 8:00:00 thatís a DNF. Tough luck, Chuck.
Breakfast on Sunday will start at about 8:30 AM. We hope to have scoring completed by 10:00 and award trophies by 10:30 AM.
The cost for all this fun and
adventure? $110 for single and $160 for two-up.
